Emetogenic Esophagogastrie Injuries

Abstract
A case of esophagogastric mucosal laceration (Mallory- Weiss syndrome) and two cases of spontaneous rupture of the esophagus (Boerhaave syndrome) were treated at Han Kang Sacred Heart Hospital and reported with the comparative review of literatures. -
Both injuries appear to be the--result of abnormally elevated intraluminal cardioesophageal pressures during. vomiting.. A history_ of prolonged retc.Iing or vomiting often but not always associated with alcoholism is charadferistic and delayed management leads to the fatal course,
Each of these cases developed following vomiting associated with alcoholic ingestion and a case of rupture of the esophagus occurred after esophagoscopy for foreign body lodged in lower portion of the esophagus which was stenotic for 10 years due to lye ingestion.
